Head of Production (All genders)

Overview
BIOWEG is looking for a Head of Production to lead and scale our production operations. In this role, you will oversee manufacturing processes, ensure compliance with industry standards and drive operational improvements. You will help expand our production capacity while maintaining the highest quality, safety, and sustainability standards.

Your Role
  • Ensure strict compliance with GMP, EHS, and all relevant regulatory and quality standards
  • Lead, mentor and empower the production team, fostering a culture of accountability, safety and continuous improvement
  • Plan, implement and optimize production processes while driving scale-up initiatives to support business growth
  • Oversee budgets, costs  and resource allocation to achieve operational efficiency and long-term sustainability
  • Establish, maintain, and continuously improve SOPs, change control processes, and deviation management
  • Conduct, review, and update risk assessments to guarantee safe and reliable operations.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure production aligns with company goals and client needs
  • Drive innovation by identifying and implementing process improvements, digital solutions and new technologies to enhance efficiency and quality
Your Profile
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Biotechnology, Production Management or a related field
  • At least 8–10 years of relevant experience in production management, ideally in biotech, chemicals, food or pharmaceutical industries
  • Strong knowledge of GMP, EHS, compliance and quality standards
  • Proven experience in scaling production operations and leading cross-functional projects
  • Excellent leadership skills with a track record of building and motivating high-performing teams
  • Hands-on, proactive and adaptable mindset with the ability to thrive in a startup environment
  • Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal; proficiency in German is a plus
